On 27th March 1871, a Rugby match was played between England and Scotland. 4000 spectators piled into Raeburn Place in Edinburgh to watch.

It was a moment in history that gave rise to international Rugby matches as we know today, and now you have the chance to mark the 150th Anniversary by owning a limited edition collection.

UK 1999 Silver Proof Rugby £2 Coin – scarcely available

And what better tribute than the UK 1999 Rugby Silver Proof £2 Coin. Issued in .925 Sterling Silver, each £2 coin has been struck to a perfect proof finish.

Not only are back-issue silver coins like this scarcely available on the secondary markets, but the Rugby £2 is the first bi-metallic commemorative coin. And that means it’s always in popular demand with collectors.

Paired with one-year-only stamps

Each £2 has been paired with two one-year-only stamps, representing each side that played all those years ago. The GB 2007 St George’s Cross stamp has been included alongside the GB 1999 Scottish Saltire stamp.
