The Tour de France returns to Britain

This year sees only the fourth time the Tour de France has visited Britain, the last being back in 2007. And it’s not only visiting this time – the first three stages are being held in the UK with the Grand Départ taking place in Leeds City Centre on 5th July. The route covers 546km and visits five new stage cities: Leeds, Harrogate, York, Sheffield, and Cambridge, before finishing in London and heading to France.

This new Limited Edition Silver Coin Cover features six postage stamps honouring three key British Tour cyclists: Brian Robinson – the first ever British stage winner; Bradley Wiggins - who famously won the Tour back in 2012; and Mark Cavendish – who has won the most individual Tour stages for a Briton.

Each stamp comes adjoined to a specially designed label featuring one of the six stage cities. The stamps are postmarked with an official one-day-only postmark which carries the date of the Grand Départ from Yorkshire, 5th July 2014.

Sat alongside these postage stamps is the official Tour de France ‘Yellow Jersey’ Silver Proof Coin from Monnaie de Paris, which rather fittingly features a stylised cyclist wearing the famous yellow jersey - picked out selectively in full colour.

Just 250 Collectors can own this Silver Coin Cover.
