2020 UK Mayflower CERTIFIED BU £2

To commemorate the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower, in 2020 The Royal Mint issued a £2 coin.

2020 marks 400 years since the Mayflower set sail on its famous voyage from Plymouth, England to the ‘New World’ in 1620 — a key event in British history.

102 Pilgrims and around 30 crew aboard the ship spent two months at sea, battling against the North Atlantic wind on their ground-breaking journey to America.

The Design

US designer, Chris Costello, retells the epic story of the Mayflower’s voyage on the obverse of this £2 coin. Sails billowing in the wind, this memorable design features the inscription ‘1620-2020’ above and ‘Mayflower’ below.

Keen collectors may also recognise the iconic Mayflower ship which has been seen once before on the rare Royal Mint £2 trial pieces created in 1994 — only adding to the popularity of this 2020 coin.

Originally issued as a part of the 2020 Annual Coin Set, this £2 coin is now available to add to your collection individually in superior collector quality.
