UK 2017 Prince Philip CERTIFIED BU £5 Coin

On 4th May 2017, Buckingham Palace announced that Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh would be retiring from public duty. This marked an incredible 70 years of service to the Queen, the United Kingdom, British Isles and the Commonwealth.

And to honour this achievement, The Royal Mint announced the release of a UK coin to pay tribute to Prince Philip and his 70 years of service.

The coin features a portrait of The Duke of Edinburgh by highly respected designer Humphrey Paget (1893-1974). Today, Paget is recognised as one of the finest and most prolific coin designers of the 20th century. This portrait of Prince Philip was one of his last significant commissions.

The 2017 UK Prince Philip £5 coin is protectively encapsulated and certified as superior Brilliant Uncirculated quality.

This coin is no longer available from The Royal Mint, but you can secure the Brilliant Uncirculated issue today for just £24.99.
