Did you know the British penny wasn't always struck by The Royal Mint?

As the demand for Copper and Silver coins increased and the country remained in the turmoil of World War One, The Royal Mint did not have capacity to produce them...

As a result, two private Mints were contracted to strike new coins for them: the Heaton Mint, which has a mintmark ‘H’, and the Kings Norton Mint which used a ‘KN’ mintmark. 

And today, you have the rare chance to secure two 1918-dated pennies, featuring the different mintmarks. 

Two coins from these separate Mints rarely appear on the secondary market, let alone as a pairing together - especially dated in the final year of WWI.
