Discover the unique coins that are pieces of numismatic history

The Royal Canadian Mint is world-renowned for its high quality minting and for celebrating the fascinating history of its coinage.

And now you have the opportunity to delve in to their archives to discover some very unique coins that were never seen by the Canadian public – and can now only be owned by very few.

The Coins That Never Were

In 1937 a committee of 12 artists was selected to propose new designs for circulation coins. But all initial sketches were rejected – including the polar bear and goose design featured in this set. It was only the caribou design that was taken forward, and adapted from Emanuel Hanh’s original concept.

The fact that none of these coin designs ever entered circulation makes this set a very unique and special piece of numismatic history.

THREE 1oz Silver Proof Coins

The three designs in this set have been faithfully interpreted from Hahn’s sketches which are part of the National Currency Collection.

Each design has been impeccably struck from one full ounce 99.99% pure silver to a stunning reverse proof finish. The obverse features the effigy of King George VI to add a sense of historical accuracy.

Very few can own this piece of history

JUST 5,500 of these historically significant sets were released worldwide. As expected they were quickly snapped up by Canadian collectors and the Mint is now SOLD OUT.

It’s no wonder collectors were quick to secure this special issue. As these coins never entered circulation, only 5,500 collectors in the world will ever be able to own and appreciate these unique designs.
