The King's Speech Outbreak of WWII 80th Anniversary Silver Proof £5 Coin

1939, a history defining year not just for Britain but for countries across the world. The declaration of the Second World War and the beginning of conflict that would take many lives and destroy more land and property around the globe than any previous war.

To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of WWII and to honour King George VI as the calming and steadfast figure through the years of peril and hardship, this brand new Silver Proof £5 coin has been issued.

Struck in .925 Sterling Silver to a pristine Proof finish, this coin features the entire speech made by King George VI during the outbreak of WWII.

The iconic speech has been engraved onto the coin using specialist micro-engraving technology and you actually need a microscope (supplied FREE) to view it. But the stunning thing is just how incredibly detailed the coin is – it’s a fitting tribute to one of Britain’s most iconic leaders who gave his people solace in 1939 as the outbreak of WWII was announced.
