Extremely rare - The East India Company Five Sovereign Set

This year we mark the 200th anniversary of the end of King George III’s reign. He was the first king of the United Kingdom, and remains to this day the longest reigning king in British history.

And now, to mark his legacy, The East India Company have issued a BRAND NEW 2020 Gold Proof Five Sovereign Set.

Five Sovereigns, five timeless designs

The set features five Gold Proof Sovereign denominations each replicating a timeless design from the reign of King George III:

  • Five Sovereign – featuring an interpretation of Pistrucci’s iconic George and the Dragon motif that adorns modern UK Sovereigns and also featured on King George III’s 1818 crown.

  • Double Sovereign – design inspired by the famous ‘counter stamped’ Spanish Dollar of 1797.

  • Sovereign – features the iconic Spade Guinea motif, the last circulating guinea of King George III.

  • Half Sovereign – a tribute to King George III’s 1817 Silver Half Crown, the first Crown to be reissued following the Great Recoinage Act.

  • Quarter Sovereign – design inspired by the ‘Dorrien and Magens shilling’ of 1798, largely referred to King George’s rarest shilling.

The craftsmanship of the five coins is impeccable. Each is struck to the same exacting standards of the UK sovereign denominations – from 22 Carat Gold and finished to the very highest mirror-like proof quality.
