Since it was first minted in 1979 the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf has become probably the most collectible bullion coin in the world.
Part of the magic is the .9999 – or in some cases .99999 – gold, which officially makes it one of the purest bullion coins available. And then there is the quality of the actual striking - this is an area in which, as any serious coin collector knows, the Royal Canadian Mint leads the field.
This year, Canada’s iconic Gold Maple Leaf Coin turns 40 and to mark the occasion the Royal Canadian Mint have released a special quarter ounce pure 99.99% gold coin, finished to the highest proof quality.
The reverse design features the iconic Maple Leaf and special one-year-only privy mark to celebrate the anniversary. What’s more, each coin is also dual-dated 1979-2019. The obverse bears Susanna Blunt’s portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
The coin is displayed in its official Royal Canadian Mint Presentation Case and is completed by its Royal Canadian Mint Certificate of Authenticity.
But perhaps most important is its limited mintage. Just 1,600 coins have been authorised and from that limited mintage, only 500 have been set aside for this presentation available to you today.
