Instantly recognisable, Britannia is the female personification of the British Isles, symbolic of the British spirit. She first appeared on the Roman coins of Emperor Hadrian circa AD 119 and has been a symbol of strength and progress 2,000 years since.
Today, you have the chance to own an iconic Britannia released by The Royal Mint – the UK 2015 £50 Fine Silver Britannia.
An important Royal Mint first
Commissioned to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s reign as the longest serving British Monarch, this legal tender coin was produced by The Royal Mint as a special limited edition release.
The Britannia 2015 £50 Fine Silver Coin is the United Kingdom’s first face value commemorative £50 coin. It is struck to Brilliant Uncirculated standard. The coin features Britannia and Her Majesty The Queen which, unusually, have both been designed by the same artist, Royal Mint engraver Jody Clark.
Limited back-issue stock available
Struck in solid Fine .999 Silver and weighing a full ounce, this is a fantastic piece of numismatic history. And because it is a numismatic first, it now stands out as a significant coin for any UK collection.
We have managed to secure a small stock of significant back-issue Britannia coins in their original Royal Mint packaging exclusively for Westminster collectors.
