UK Queen Elizabeth II £5 Coin Collection

Since they were first introduced in 1990, UK £5 coins have since become a favourite amongst collectors and they are viewed by many as the UK's flagship coins.

Importantly, £5 coins are reserved for the most significant Royal event or anniversary, making them a treasured piece of British history.

Today you can own six of the most significant £5 coins issued throughout Queen Elizabeth II's reign:

1993 40th Anniversary of Coronation: This £5 was issued to mark 40 years since the Queen's Coronation in 1953. The reverse features the Crown of St Edward which was used at the Coronation, set within 40 radiating trumpets. The words FAITH AND TRUTH I WILL BEAR UNTO YOU, from the Coronation oath, are inscribed at the top.

2002 Queen Mother Memorial: This £5 was issued to commemorate the life of the Queen Mother who was a loving support to King George VI and to Queen Elizabeth II. To honour her spirit the edge inscription reads STRENGTH DIGNITY LAUGHTER.

2016 Queen's 90th Birthday: This £5 coin celebrates Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday which was on Thursday, 21st April 2016. The coin features a crowned Royal Cypher above the number 90, surrounded by roses and was designed by Christopher Hobbs.

2017 Sapphire Jubilee: In 2017 HRH Queen Elizabeth became the first British monarch to celebrate a Sapphire Jubilee, having been our Queen for 65 years. To celebrate this milestone The Royal Mint issued this £5 designed by Glyn Davies, which includes a quotation from Her Majesty’s 21st birthday speech ‘My whole life, whether it be long or short, devoted to your service’.

2017 Platinum Wedding: On 20th November 2017 Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Philip celebrated their Platinum wedding anniversary, celebrating 70 years together. To mark the longest marriage in Royal history, The Royal Mint issued a celebratory £5 coin.

2018 Sapphire Coronation: 2018 marked the 65th anniversary of Her Majesty the Queen’s Coronation on the 2nd June 1953. To celebrate this unprecedented Royal milestone, The Royal Mint issued a stunning £5 coin, as a lasting tribute to this historic year.

All six coins are protectively displayed in a customised £5 collector's page, which can easily slot into a Change Checker Album.
