Space meets Time on the BRAND NEW 2025 Royal Observatory Silver Proof £5 Coin
The Royal Observatory in Greenwich is quite literally the place where the world divides into the East and West Hemispheres and it has been at the centre of science, astronomy and navigation for centuries.
And to mark 350 years of scientific discovery and achievement, the BRAND NEW Royal Observatory Silver Proof £5 Coin has been authorised for release by Guernsey and fully approved by Buckingham Palace.
One of the most technical designs ever?!
The coin’s technical design is split by a line which represents the Prime Meridian, the point where the Earth’s hemispheres meet.
One side of the coin honours timekeeping with a detailed design inspired by Martin Burgess’ Clock B. The other half celebrates astronomy, depicting the Great Equatorial Telescope below the Ursa Minor constellation and the North Star.
Struck to the Favoured Silver Proof Specification
Each coin has been expertly struck from Sterling Silver to a Proof finish, the perfect specification to showcase the precision of Quentin Peacock’s design.
