Few portraits are as iconic as Arnold Machin’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.

First introduced in 1968, Machin’s elegant design became one of the most recognisable portraits of the late Queen, appearing on UK coinage for decades and defining an era of British currency.

Now this legendary portrait returns as part of the Portraits of the Queen series, released to mark 100 years since the birth of Queen Elizabeth II.

For this new issue, the historic effigy has been reimagined by Royal Mint Chief Engraver Gordon Summers, combining Machin’s timeless profile with a striking modern radial background.

Struck from one full troy ounce of pure platinum, the coin is crafted from a precious metal that is around 30 times rarer than gold and far less commonly used in UK coinage, making platinum issues some of the most rare and sought-after modern collectibles.

And with just 75 coins available worldwide, this is one of the most limited ways to own this iconic portrait.

Even more remarkably, this issue does not appear on The Royal Mint’s website, making The Westminster Collection one of the few places collectors can secure it.

A historic royal portrait, struck in precious platinum and limited to just 75 worldwide – a remarkable addition to any serious collection.
