In 1876 Scottish-born inventor Alexander Graham Bell received the patent for his invention, the telephone. He revolutionised communication as we know it and by his death in 1922 he held more than 18 patents for his inventions and ground breaking work in communications.
Struck from 3oz Silver in the shape of a Telephone
To commemorate 100 years since his death, in 2022, a stunning coin has been issued. Struck from 3 full ounces of Silver, using advanced minting techniques it has been shaped into an old-fashioned rotary telephone.
Not only that but it also features a special 24 Carat Gold-plated moveable inlay at the centre of the coin. As it’s been struck to an Antique Finish, unlike Proof coins, this means it can be handled without fear of damaging it - you can even spin the dial as if making a call, as a protective finish has also been applied to the inlay.
