2017 was a historic year for the Royal Family.
The biggest announcement came on the 4th of May when Buckingham Palace announced that HRH the Duke of Edinburgh, after 70 years at Her Majesty’s side, would be retiring from public duty.
To mark this record breaking achievement and to celebrate his 70 years of service to Her Majesty the Queen, The Bailiwick of Guernsey issued a commemorative £5 coin.
Proof Finish with 24-Carat Gold Ink Highlights
The coin has been finished to a pristine Proof collector quality with beautiful 24-carat gold ink highlight. Importantly the reverse design has been fully authorised by Buckingham Palace and Her Majesty.
The design features Prince Philip's Royal cypher but this time with the addition of an anchor and wreath representing his time in the Royal Navy.
Just 4,950 issued worldwide
It is surprising that for such a significant moment in our Royal history, that just 4,950 of these coins were issued. The remaining stock will not be available for long.
