80th Anniversary of VE Day Coin and Stamp Set
In the 80th anniversary year of VE Day, 500 lucky collectors have the chance to secure official issues from Royal Mail and The Royal Mint, spanning three decades and the most significant anniversaries.
This exclusive collection brings together official British coins and stamps issued to commemorate both the 50th and 80th anniversaries of VE Day—two poignant milestones in British and world history.
-
The UK 1995 VE Day £2 coin and Royal Mail's Peace and Freedom stamp, both issued to celebrate the 50th anniversary of VE Day.
-
The newly released UK 2025 VE Day 50p coin, issued by The Royal Mint for the 80th anniversary.
The original 1995 £2 coin, which depicts a dove of peace above a shattered barbed wire ring, symbolises the end of war and the arrival of peace. As the original VE Day coin, it's one of the most sought-after circulating coins ever issued.
The Royal Mint's brand-new VE Day 50p, issued in 2025 to mark the 80th anniversary, features a remastered ‘dove of peace’ design which has been updated to include the words ‘IN PEACE GOODWILL’ as written by Winston Churchill.
The accompanying ‘Peace and Freedom’ GB stamp issued by Royal Mail that same year features British Troops and French civilians celebrating the end of War in Europe on 8th May 1945.
To hold both the original 1995 £2 coin and GB stamp, alongside the brand-new 2025 50p, is to own a tangible timeline of remembrance that spans three decades. Sets like this—uniting official issues from The Royal Mint and Royal Mail—are increasingly sought-after.
But just 500 are available worldwide.
