2009 Olympic Countdown £5

This £5 coin was the first of four, issued by The Royal Mint in the lead up to the 2012 Olympic Games.

Released in 2009, the design features the number ‘3’, representing the start of the 1, 2, 3 countdown of years to London 2012 Olympics. The number is visible through swimmers racing to the finish line. The Official London 2012 logo also features on the reverse.

This coin is no longer available from The Royal Mint and, due to the difficulty in sourcing this issue, stocks are incredibly limited.
