This UK 2017 Silver £2 coin has been issued to commemorate the role aviation played during the First World War. It pays tribute to the aviators and their sacrifices in the race for supremacy of the skies.
Each limited edition £2 coin has been struck from 925/1000 Silver with 24 Carat Gold-plate to a proof finish. Proof coins are struck several times using specially polished dies to create a flawless finish with a perfect mirrored background and frosted design. The ultimate in coin quality.
Importantly, it has a strict edition limit of JUST 3,500 coins worldwide, that's 1,500 LESS than the UK WWI Army Silver Proof £2, issued in 2016.
Designed by tangerine, the reverse of this striking coin shows a pilot and his observer performing a reconnaissance flight in a Royal Aircraft Factory R.E.8 over an area of the Battle of Arras, in April 1917. Whilst the obverse features the Jody Clark portrait of Her Majesty the Queen.
Each coin will arrive ready to display in its Official Royal Mint Presentation Case with a Certificate of Authenticity.
