Last year we marked the 75th Anniversary of the Normandy landings. On 6th June 1944, Allied forces came by land, sea and air and would eventually bring about the liberation of Europe and ultimately the end of the Second World War. Codenamed Operation Overlord, D-Day was without a doubt a world-changing event.
To commemorate this historic anniversary, a United Kingdom Silver Proof £2 was released.
UK 2019 D-Day 75th Anniversary Silver Proof £2 Coin
Struck from .925 Sterling Silver to an immaculate proof finish this £2 coin has been designed by Stephen Taylor, and captures the magnitude of the operation. The design is inspired by military maps and features the codenames of the 5 beaches – Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword.
The single coin edition limit for the D-Day £2 Silver Proof Coin is just 5,000 – as incredibly low edition limit considering the historic importance of the commemorative. Unsurprisingly they proved to be so popular that they quickly SOLD OUT at the Mint.
As official distributors we have a limited number of these coins left in stock, and you can secure yours today at the official Royal Mint issue price of just £67.50 (+p&p).
