1990 Queen Mother 90th Birthday £5

In 1990, The Royal Mint re-tariffed crowns from their previous 25 pence value to £5 and this was the first of its kind  paying tribute to the Queen Mother on her 90th birthday.

The reverse design features ornamental 'E's' entwined and flanked by an English rose and a Scottish thistle.

The Queen Mother's name and title are inscribed at the top while the double dates of 1900 and 1990 appear at the foot.
