Last year, to mark the 250th anniversary of the first great voyage of Captain James Cook, The Royal Mint announced a three coin series. And now the second coin in the series has been released.
The design is beautiful and will ensure it is snapped up.
But there are 3 other distinct factors that we think makes this a great (if not essential) addition for your collection:
- Firstly, it has an edition limit of just 4,795. However, we have been allocated just 250. This will send demand sky high.
- This is the only way you can own this coin in Silver. The Mint has taken the unusual step of not issuing it in double-thickness Piedfort as they normally do.
- This is the second coin in a unique set of THREE £2 coins issued over three years. Each reverse has been designed so that when the coins are eventually placed together, a complete, larger design will be revealed. The next coin will be released in 2020.
Designed by Gary Breeze, this coin features the mast of Cook’s famous ship, HM Bark Endeavour, below a celestial image of the Transit of Venus – the initial reason for Cook’s voyage of discovery and an important step in the scientific aim to accurately measure the size of the solar system.
We have managed to secure just 250 for our collectors. But, as you can imagine, these will sail out quickly at the official Royal Mint price of just £67.50 (+p&p).
Each coin will arrive ready to display in its official Royal Mint presentation case with a certificate of authenticity.
