This year marks 60 years since the establishment of Jersey Zoo. To commemorate such a momentous occasion, a special £2 coin has been authorised for release by Jersey Treasury and fully approved by Her Majesty the Queen.
Marking the 60th anniversary of Jersey Zoo
Jersey Zoo was founded by Gerald Durrell in 1959 and is also headquarters to Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust. Jersey Zoo is renowned internationally for its incredible work saving species from extinction.
Specially commissioned design
This brand new 60th Anniversary of Jersey Zoo £2 Coin features a specially commissioned engraving of a Gorilla by Jersey-born artist Rosemary Blackmore. What’s more, each coin has been carefully struck to a superior Brilliant Uncirculated finish, the standard favoured among collectors.
Donation to Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust
This wonderful coin has been developed in partnership with Jersey Zoo and for every coin sold a donation will go directly to the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, the international charity that Jersey Zoo is part of.
