Equestrian Olympic 50p

This coin was issued as part of a series of 29 Olympic 50ps in commemoration of London 2012, with each 50p featuring a different Olympic Sport.

The equestrian disciplines are unique among Olympic sports in the sense that men and women compete on the same terms, the horse and rider are both declared medal winners and both must have the same nationality. Team GB won a total of 3 gold medals in all equestrian events.

The coin features a horse rider jumping over a fence.
