2021 commemorates the 250th anniversary of the birth of novelist, historian, and poet, Sir Walter Scott, who is considered the inventor of historical novels.

Designed by Stephen Raw, this new coin features a portrait of Scott alongside lettering inspired by monuments to the writer.
