Pontius Pilate - one of the most infamous figures from ancient times, was the 5th governor of Judea (26-35 AD). He was responsible for conducting the trial of Jesus and indeed, Pilate was later sent to Rome to answer to Tiberius on charges of rapacity and cruelty.
Struck in three successive years, and struck in bronze, the Pontius Pilate coins proclaim both Jewish and pagan designs - possibly in an attempt at integrating the Jewish people further into the Roman Empire. The coin is displayed in a Presentation Box with an accompanying Certificate of Authenticity.
