This set features examples of the two versions of the Threepence that were issued during the historic reign of George V. The first version was issued between 1911 and 1920 and features the Crowned Wreath with the demonination on the reverse. The other version was issued between 1927 and 1936 and has three Oak Sprigs with Three Acorns on the reverse. Both versions feature the side portrait of King George V on the obverse.

King George V reigned from 1910, through World War I (1914-1918), battling with his health until his death in 1936. He famously changed the name of the Royal family from the German sounding House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha to the House of Windsor after the First World War to satisfy the British nationalist feelings of the time.
