Canada’s FIRST commemorative stamp

Originally issued in honour of Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee, collectors believe the 1897 “Jubilee” Issue was the first commemorative stamp issue in Canada – and to say they were popular is an understatement.

Reportedly, all 16 “Jubilee” designs sold out within the first hour of release! This includes the 100,000 50 Cents designs that were originally printed.

Now the 50 Cents design has been reissued on a solid silver coin. Impeccably struck from .9999 silver it features a faithful colour-printed reproduction of the original Jubilee stamp.

SOLD OUT – 122 years later, 20 times RARER

Unsurprisingly, 122 years after the 50 Cents design was first released on a commemorative stamp, interest in the design remains unprecedented.

In fact, the entire edition limit of 5,000 coins is SOLD OUT at the Mint.

It is no surprise that this tiny number of coins was rapidly snapped up by collectors. Compared to the original stamp, this numismatic recreation of the 50 Cents Jubilee design makes it 20 TIMES RARER.
