The Royal British Legion Armistice Commemorative

- Inspired by veterans from Bravo 22 Company

To commemorate the First World War Armistice Centenary, a poignant new issue has been released in partnership with The Royal British Legion and Bravo 22 Company (one of the first projects to use theatre and art as a form of recovery).

The Royal British Legion Armistice Commemorative - Inspired by Veterans from Bravo 22 Company

The Royal British Legion Armistice Commemorative has been inspired by Veterans from Bravo 22 Company. Five alumni from Bravo 22 Company were invited to the Legion’s Pop-In centre in Bristol for a workshop in which they would help design the Commemorative, alongside renowned numismatic artist Michael Guilfoyle.

Drawing from their past experiences of their time in the military and from what they associate with the First World War and the Armistice, each Veteran created their own sketches for a Commemorative design.

Taking inspiration from the original designs, Michael was able to create this striking and poignant commemorative.

Special Bronze Antique Finish

Struck to a stunning antique finish, the reverse design, inspired by Doug Adams, shows a sunset with words that remind us of Armistice in the rays, with a soldier in the foreground bowing his head in remembrance.

The obverse designs inspired by Graham Limb, Dave Griffin, Ian Rudge and Simon Graham, feature comrades in the trench, a little girl handing a bunch of poppies to an injured veteran, a pair of boots by a rifle with a helmet hanging from it and the animals that shared the war experience. The Royal British Legion logo is displayed in full colour.
