Launched in 2002, to coincide with Her Majesty’s Golden Jubilee Year, the Great Britain Fine Art First Day Cover Collection ran for just five years.
Some of Britain’s leading artists were carefully selected to produce a cover design that would perfectly enhance each new Royal Mail issue. Artists such as Michael Noakes, famous for his paintings of the Queen and military artist Malcolm Greensmith.
Their original illustrations were then reproduced to the quality of true Fine Art Prints, on chlorine-free fine art paper using lightfast inks. Each cover was then individually numbered and signed by the artist – just like the Fine Art prints that adorn any quality gallery.
However, each cover is so much more than just its Fine Art design. Each Royal Mail stamp is a miniature piece of art in its own right. But most importantly, its provenance is forever cast in stone by the one-day-only Royal Mail first day of issue postmark.

We have just authorised the release from our archives of the final stocks of the Great Britain Fine Art First Day Cover Collection and I would like you to have the chance to own a set of 10 Fine Art First Day Covers, which we am now able to make available in just 182 Archive Collections.
Each Archive Collection contains 10 covers, including Michael Noakes’ Golden Jubilee design as well as covers featuring the Just So stories and British Coastlines. Some of the covers have editions as low as 450.
Each cover comes complete with its original Presentation Page with all of the details you would associate with a piece of Fine Art, including the limited edition, printing method and a biography of the artist. They are, in turn, presented in a Deluxe Presentation Album.
