Struck to a pristine Proof finish in almost 1 ounce of Sterling Silver, this Dambusters Silver £5 Coin beautifully depicts the specially modified Avro Lancaster B III aircraft flying away from the breached dam. Officially approved by the Royal Air Force, this coin will only be available during the anniversary year of 2013.
The Dambusters’ Raid remains one of the most significant chapters in RAF history. 617 Squadron was formed on 21 March 1943 for the special task of breaching major dams in Germany using Barnes Wallis’ ‘bouncing bomb’.
After weeks of planning, nineteen aircraft took off on 16th May under the command of Wing Commander G P Gibson DSO DFC, attacking and successfully breaching the Möhne and Eder Dams. It is now remembered as one of the great tactical victories for the Allies during WWII as well a feat of true courage and skill.
Only 1,943 available for worldwide distribution
Significantly, in honour of the year of the raids, we have just 1,943 of these exclusive silver coins available worldwide – a tiny amount. That means many people will miss out altogether.
Order your Dambusters Silver £5 Coin today and be one of the lucky few to have the privilege of calling it part of their collection.
