Own the Last of the Old and the First of the New...

Struck by The Royal Mint, this set of four 925/1000 silver proof coins mark the last of the old and the first of the new UK 5p and 10p coins.

This set has been issued to commemorate the introduction of the new, smaller five pence coin into circulation in 1990, and the first of the smaller ten pence coin in 1992.

Strictly Limited Edition

The reverse of each five pence coin features the Badge of Scotland, designed by Christopher Ironside. The obverse shows Raphael Maklouf’s portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Significantly, just 30,000 of these were ever issued.

First issued in 1968, the ten pence coin was much larger, but in 1992 it was made smaller and lighter. This set includes the last of the old style ten pence and the first of the new smaller ten pence.

The ten pence coins bear on the reverse Christopher Ironside’s design featuring  a lion passant guardant royally crowned. Raphael Maklouf’s elegant portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is featured on the obverse of each of the coins. Similarly just 35,000 of these were issued for worldwide distribution.

Limited Availability

Importantly, we do not come across these sets very often and we have a limited number available. It will be a long time before we can offer them again.
