Canoeing Olympic 50p

This coin was issued as part of a series of 29 Olympic 50ps in commemoration of London 2012, with each 50p featuring a different Olympic Sport.

In the 2012 games, between the Canoe slalom and sprint events, Team GB won a total of 4 medals, 2 of which were gold.

The canoeing 50p was designed by Timothy Lees, a stone carver who is a member of the Royal British Sculptors. The coin features a person in a canoe on the slalom course.
