The Sovereign has been a constant in British coinage for over two centuries.

As the world’s leading flagship gold coin, it was issued in 2017 with an incredibly unique addition – a privy mark signifying the 200^th anniversary of the modern sovereign.

Composed of a ‘200’, surmounting a quartered shield, the privy appears next to the date on the reverse of the coin which displays Benedetto Pistrucci's iconic Saint George and the dragon, originally designed for the 1817 Sovereign.
